Marine PFC Ryan Cox was remembered at his funeral in southern Kansas as a polite, selfless man who was a friend to all.
The 19-year old Derby High School graduate was killed in Iraq by
the accidental discharge of another soldier's weapon.
Wednesday's funeral was held in the Belle Plaine High School gym.
The pastor of the town's First Baptist Church, the Reverend Steven Lee, praised the war victim before more than 400 people.
Lee said Cox's friends called him `"The Streak'" because of his
speed-running. He said Cox loved sports, and even tried sky-diving.
He was buried with full military honors at the Belle Plaine Cemetery, next to his grandfather's grave.
His mother Robin Hamilton, and father Alan Cox each were presented with U.S. flags that had draped the casket.
