King was scheduled to be at the National Cold Storage facility in Bonner Springs on Friday afternoon to pick up 100,000 frozen turkeys.
King has distributed turkeys for the needy for more than 40 years.
He says he wanted to focus on the Gulf Coast because residents there have continued to suffer from the destruction of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and subsequent storms.
Cargill and Kelly Oil are donating the turkeys, Southwest Airlines will handle transportation and Feeding America is coordinating distribution sites in each state.
