Crews Salt, Sand Roadways in Anticipation of Ice

TOPEKA, Kan. - City of Topeka street crews spent the day, Thursday, December 18, spreading rock salt and sand, mostly in residential neighborhoods.

At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, road temperatures hovered above the freezing mark and temperatures are not expected to drop below freezing late this evening. However, all available trucks will continue to spread salt and sand until midnight.

After midnight, the operation will be scaled back to the regular standby crew and road conditions will continue to be monitored.

Call the City of Topeka Call Center at 368-3111 to report impassable streets.
