Wichita Day Care Provider Guilty in Child's Death

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A Wichita day care provider was found guilty
of involuntary manslaughter in the death of a 13-month-old girl who
was strangled after being left partially strapped in a car seat.

Jessica Cummings, 27, sobbed Wednesday after hearing the jury's verdict, which followed about five hours of deliberations. The child's family members also dabbed tears from their eyes.

Cummings is seven months pregnant and remains free on bond awaiting her Jan. 30 sentencing. She faces more than two years in prison.

Kailee Hundley died March 25 after being left unsupervised for two hours in a car seat in a bathroom at the day care. The girl's loud sucking on a bottle apparently was disturbing other napping infants in the house. Cummings' sister also was trying to sleep.
