Driver Arrested near Emporia with 550 Pounds of Marijuana

EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) _ The Kansas Highway Patrol has arrested a Florida man after saying they found 550 pounds of marijuana in his

Highway Patrol Trooper Clint Epperly says he pulled over 39-year-old Eduardo Bravo on a random tractor-trailer inspection Wednesday night at the Kansas Turnpike's Emporia exit. Epperly said he saw some suspicious bundles in the semi's cab and smelled marijuana, which led him to find the remaining packages of drugs.

Bravo was arrested on suspicion of drug possession with intent
to sell, drug paraphernalia and no drug tax stamp.

Epperly says 150 pounds of pot were going to Kansas City while the rest was meant for Indianapolis. The federal Drug Enforcement Agency is now investigating.
