There is a way you can help out this holiday season. Shawnee County is one of 40 in Kansas taking part in the "Everybody Counts" program. Its a state-wide point-in-time homeless count initiative that's conducted every two years during the last week of January.

It tracks the number of persons experiencing homelessness. If you want to volunteer contact Doug Wallace at Valeo Behavioral Health Care at (785) 783-3106.

You can also sign up at www.topeka.org.
