Police Seek Shooter at Topeka Gas Station

Topeka Police are searching for a potential robber after a shooting incident at a local gas station.

Around 10:22 Monday morning, police say the suspect entered the Shamrock Gas Station, 1245 S.E. 29th, apparently to rob it.

Police say the clerk went back to the counter where he was approached by the suspect with a handgun.

The clerk grabbed a shotgun from behind the counter, then the suspect grabbed onto the shotgun and a struggle ensued.

Police say the shotgun went off in the direction of the clerk, missing him and traveling through a window and across the street.

The clerk grabbed the shotgun away from the suspect who then ran out the door and around the building. K9 and Detectives responded to the scene.

No one was hurt in the shooting. Authorities have placed Eisenhower Middle School, Ross Elementary School, and Highland Park Central School under lockdown while the comb the area for the alleged roober.

The suspect was described as a white man, short/stocky, and balding.
