A fire at a KU Residence Hall forces students to evacuate. It happened around 6:15p.m. Saturday at McCollum Hall located on the west side of KU's campus.
According to Sgt. Robert Linzer at the KU Police Department a call was received about a possible fire on the 9th floor. When crews responded they found smoke in the west wing of the 9th floor but no signs of fire.
Sgt. Linzer said later they found a five gallon trash can that had been ignited. Police and fire officials continue to investigate to determine how the garbage can caught on fire.
930 residents live in McCollum Hall. There were no injuries or damages to report.
