WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A homeschooling mother was hauled away in handcuffs from court after refusing to tell authorities where her 14-year-old daughter is.
Bambi Baker-Hazen contends her daughter has been abused in the state's child welfare system since authorities took the girl in a case that began with a mistaken truancy report.
Juvenile Court Judge Tim Henderson found the mother in contempt Friday for refusing to testify about the whereabouts of Ashton Baker. The girl ran away in October from the Wichita Children's Home.
The judge repeatedly warned the mother to answer before ordering her held in jail until she tells the court her location.
