Despite efforts to save it, the Cedar Vale Community Hospital will close at the end of the month.
The hospital's board members announced the decision yesterday to close the 25-bed hospital in western Chautauqua County.
Don Cox, chairman of the hospital board, said the hospital was not making enough money to meet its obligations.
Several attempts to keep the hospital going have failed. A fund-raiser was held last year, with more than $115,000 dollars raised.
Cox said the hospital could stay open if another source of operating capital becomes available before August 31st.
