WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ That e-mail showing a female mountain lion and two cubs feeding on a deer carcass east of Mulvane?

Didn't happen.

State biologists say the picture was taken in South Dakota and has also been distributed in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Arkansas.

Another e-mail that has made the rounds shows a man kneeling by the massive body of a dead male mountain, which reportedly was struck by a vehicle near Ottawa and had attacked state wildlife officials.

Not true, as well.

Mark Dowling of the Cougar Network says that animal acutally died on a road in northern Arizona about a year ago and believes the e-mails started as practical jokes, but the stories change as they get forwarded to thousands of others.
