Sebelius Drops Out of Cabinet Consideration

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius takes herself out of consideration for a spot in President-elect Barack Obama's Cabinet.

Sebelius says she asked that her name be removed from consideration.

She cited the state's financial problems, which include a projected budget deficit during the state's current fiscal year.

She said in a statement, ``I believe it is important to continue my service as governor.''

Sebelius had been mentioned most often as a potential secretary of energy, education or labor.

She was one of four finalists for the No. 2 spot on the Democratic ticket this summer, before Obama chose Delaware Sen. Joe Biden as his vice presidential choice.
