Convict Gives Marriage Proposal During Sentencing

Elgin Robinson

WICHITA, Kan. - Elgin Robinson will spend the rest of his life in prison for his role in the death of 14-year-old Chelsea Brooks. Brooks was 9 months pregnant when she was murdered.

Friday morning, a judge formally sentenced Robinson for the crime - but not before some bizarre and dramatic developments including an apparent marriage proposal from Elgin Robinson and an emotional outburst during the victim's mother's statement.

Robinson apologized for what happened to Chelsea, but denied having anything to do with it. He said Everett Gentry isn't sorry for what he did. Robinson raised his voice and reiterated that he didn't tell Gentry to kill Chelsea.

Robinson then talked about another girl named Cassidy, saying, "Cassidy is one of the few people who didn't drink Gentry's Kool-Aid. I just want to finish by saying thank you...and Cassidy, Romero wants to know if you'll marry him."
