Washington State Woman Appeals Conviction

A Washington state woman sentenced to 26 years in prison for driving a pickup that hit and killed two Kansas highway workers is appealing her conviction.

Ramona Morgan, 49, was convicted in September on two counts of reckless second degree murder and one count of reckless aggravated battery. The September 11th, 2007 incident on US 59, south of Lawrence, killed Tyrone Korte and Rolland Griffith.

The Lawrence Journal World reports a judge declared Morgan indigent, meaning she can have an appointed attorney for her appeal.
