Man Killed when Car Hits Deer, Oncoming Vehicle

CLAY CENTER, Kan. (AP) _ A 51-year-old man is dead and another
motorist was injured in a head-on crash near Clay Center that
started when one of the vehicles struck a deer.

The Highway Patrol said a car driven by Robert Laffery of Clay Center was northbound on K-15 at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday when it hit the deer and plowed into a truck driven by Delbert Rule of Linn.

Laffery died in the crash and the 61-year-old Rule was flown to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

Both men were wearing seatbelts.
