Brownback Against Guantanamo Detainees Move to Kansas

By  |

Senator Sam Brownback will tell reporters Thursday why detainees held at Guantanamo Bay should not be moved to Kansas.

The Republican Senator will hold a news conference in Leavenworth, then tour the U.S. Disciplinary barracks at Fort Leavenworth.

Brownback has strongly opposed efforts to close Guantanamo and bring the terrorist detainees to Kansas.

The U.S. is holding about 250 men on suspicion of terrorism or links to Al-Qaida and the Taliban at the Guantanamo facility.

Brownback argues that there's not enough space and the security's not strong enough to hold the detainees here.
