RILEY, Kan. - There will be a remembrance service for 15-year-old Kolten Range of Leonardville on Wednesday of this week. The service will be held at Riley County High School at 2 p.m. There is a memorial fund set up at the Riley State Bank.
Range has been missing since he got out of a canoe in Tuttle Creek Lake on November 15th. He was a freshman and played football at Riley County High School.
Lt. Kurt Moldrup with the Riley County Police Department has warned the public about the importance of water saftey, especially when temperatures are low. Lt. Moldrup said not to underestimate the power of the winds and rapidly changing water conditions. He also warned against overestimating one's own abilities because cold water can drain strength and energy.
