Fire broke out at Providence Living Center twice Saturday. Topeka Firefighters responded to the first fire just before 9:00. The fire was small and damage is estimated at $500.

Around 2:30 a second fire broke out. This one was located in the common area in the south basement of the facility. The fire caused the sprinkler system to go off.

According to the center's Chief Operating Officer Frank Trimboli, the staff swiftly evacuated the residents. Blowing fans were used to get the smoke out of the building. The fire caused $7,000 in damage.

Noone was displaced by either fire and both remain under investigation to determine the causes.
