A Topeka motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning when his Harley-Davidson collided with a car at the intersection of Huntoon and Gage in Topeka.
The rider, 66 year-old Melvin Fehrenbacher, was southbound on Gage around 7:15 am when his bike hit a oncoming Buick Skylark, driven by 81 year-old Elaine Creech, who was turning left onto Huntoon.
The motorcyclist suffered severe head trauma during the crash, according to police reports, and was pronounced dead after arriving at Stormont-Vail hospital.
The accident remains under investigation by the city's Accident Reconstruction team. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Reconstruction team at 368-9227 or Sgt. Ash Kaboudan at 368-9213
The rider was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Authorities do not believe alcohol or speed were a factor in the accident.
