Screenwriter Brings New Movie Home to Kansas

SALINA, Kan. (AP) _ After four years of waiting, a Lawrence-based film screenwriter is about to bring his love to life.

Next week, crews will begin filming J.T. O'Neal's "Au Pair, Kansas'' at locations around Lindsborg in central Kansas.

O'Neal calls the film his "love letter'' and knew that if he sold it to Hollywood that the film never would have been shot in Kansas.

O'Neal received a medical degree from the University of Kansas and practiced medicine for 20 years, most of it while in the Air Force.

After deciding to become a screenwriter, O'Neal enrolled in a graduate program at UCLA, where he received a master's of fine arts degree in screenwriting.
