A Salina child care center is under investigation by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

KDHE issued an Emergency Order of Suspension Monday against Sharing and Caring, Inc., 663 S. Ninth St. in Salina.

In its order, KDHE says it did a joint survey with SRS. The order says children were being grabbed and yanked by their arms and children were being threatened. In addition, the order says a lead staff member and the director were force-feeding children "by holding their mouths open, pinching their faces and pouring milk down their throats. Several times children have vomited by having this done."

KDHE says the center is licensed for 17 children, ages two-and-a-half to school age. Its license was first issued in March 2000.

The center may appeal the order.

i know for a fact that these things happened over and over. children were always forced to eat and they have to drink milk. if a child vomits they get more. punishment is slamming the child down on a kitchen counter and yes these children have bruises. the providers and director know how to behave in front of parents and agencies.

I know this daycare center and providers. These are wonderful people and would never hurt a child. They have worked in childcare for over 20 years. No way these chargers are real.

Why wouldn't you trust state licensed day cares. If this wasn't licensed, no one would have noticed what was going on at the center. It happens with licensed and non licensed day cares. Parents just have to listen and look for signs from their kids.
