Growth in government kept employment in Kansas from shrinking.
A labor department report out today shows the number of Kansas holding non-farm jobs grew about eighty-six hundred from October 2007 to October 2008.
State and local government agencies accounted for seventy-nine hundred of those jobs.
Professional and health services also saw growth. Hiring by manufacturing firms was slightly lower.
