Topeka, KS (WIBW)-- The deadline is looming for family to register for the Christmas bureau. The program connects private adopters with qualifying families to help with holiday meals and gifts.
Almost 2,000 families are registered already and organizers expect to near 3,000 by Friday’s deadline.
“It’s no exaggeration to say that without this program some kids wouldn't have Christmas. Some families are not able to provide by the time bills are paid, the necessities paid. Paychecks don't go that far so it's important to keep the spirit of Christmas, the spirit of giving alive,” Barbara Lindquist said.
You can register your family at the Sweet Building at 622 SW Topeka Boulevard until 7 p.m. Thursday night or from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Be sure to bring a picture ID, Proof of income and social security ID for all applicants; Adoptions begin next week.
