An Emporia man is being recognized for all his hard work over the years. Superintendent Dr. John Heim has been awarded the Superintendent of the Year award.

Heim has been superintendent for Emporia public schools for eleven years. He says he is honored to receive the award. His father, Max Heim, was the second person to receive the award in 1990, when he was a superintendent in Geary county.

The award is given by the Kansas Association of School Administrators.
