A Kansas government organization celebrates a birthday the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services Friday celebrated it 35th year with punch and cookies.
Governor Kathleen Sebelius was there to welcome everyone. Employees of present and past gathered to mingle and honor all the things the organization has done for the community over the years.
Organizers say it is not how many years they have been in business that counts but instead, that they are able to help Kansans in need of assistance. They also say it is the hark work and dedication of these employees that makes Kansas a better place to live. SRS was established in 1973.
