MANHATTAN, Kan. - A new emergency shelter is now open in Manhattan. A ribbon cutting and open house for the Caroline Peine Transitional Shelter took place Wednesday Morning. The facility started accepting residents a few months ago. It provides a temporary home to nearly twice as many men, women and families as the previous building. A number of organizations and private donors provided funding for the new building.
