Kansas' top transportation official announces that the state is delaying $209 million worth of highway construction projects. Transportation Secretary Deb Miller said financial uncertainties for both the federal and state governments are the reason.
Miller says it would be irresponsible for the state to begin projects without knowing whether it could pay to finish them. She told a legislative committee Wednesday that the Department of Transportation is suspending its plans to take bids in December for $146 million worth of work and in January for an additional $63 million worth.
