One Dead After High School Shooting in Florida

A Florida high school student is suspected of shooting and killing a classmate at school Wednesday. A school resource officer at Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale found the victim, 15-year old Amanda Collette, lying on a hallway floor.

She was rushed to the hospital where she died. At about the same time police received a call from someone at a nearby restaurant that a teenage girl in the restaurant may have just shot someone.

Police officers took the 15 year old girl into custody. They also recovered a small caliber handgun. The girl is not yet officially charged. Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident between the two girls and no other students were in danger. They haven't said exactly what led to it.
