WINFIELD, Kan. (AP) _ A judge sets a competency hearing in the trial of the man accused of killing a Cowley College freshman in 2007.
The competency hearing for Justin Thurber is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Dec. 16.
Cowley County District Judge Jim Pringle last month ordered Thurber to undergo a mental evaluation at Larned State Hospital.
Thurber recently returned to Cowley County Jail after the evaluation.
If the Arkansas City man is found competent to stand trial, the court would consider pretrial motions that have been put on hold.
Thurber is charged with kidnapping, raping and murdering 19-year-old Jodi Sanderholm. Her body was found in January 2007 in the Kaw Wildlife Area several days after she went missing.
