Topeka, KS (13 News) - With O-negative blood supplies at a critically low level, Washburn University volunteered to help out by hosting a blood drive Monday.
The Community Blood Center says it has only 22 units of the blood to supply more than 70 area hospitals.
Students, faculty, staff and citizens turned out to the Petro Allied Health Center to donate. The school sent out emails to alert students and staff of the need. Each donor received a T-shirt and a gift certificate to an area restaurant.
The American Medical Student Association PreMed (AMSA) and Beta Beta Beta biology honor society sponsored the event.
