Ex-girlfriend: Spector was 'Easy to Forgive'

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ An ex-girlfriend of music producer Phil Spector has acknowledged that she attended events with the rock legend after she says he pistol-whipped her and threatened her with guns.

Dorothy Melvin testified at Spector's retrial for murder that he's easy to forgive because when he's not drunk ``he's the most charming man in the world.''

She testified that she broke off all contact after he was charged in the February 2003 shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson.

Spector is being retried for murder in Clarkson's death a year after the jury in his first trial deadlocked 10-2. The majority favored conviction.
