Jury selection began Monday in the case of a woman accused of involuntary manslaughter after a baby in her care rolled off a mattress and suffocated.
The incident happened in July 2007. Michelle Bolze-Sann ran a state-licensed daycare home at 3270 Southwest Tara Avenue in Topeka. Prosecutors say she left the child unattended for over an hour on a bed with a pillow barrier even though she had instructions not to do so.
Bolze-Sann pleaded not guilty. Jury selection broke off early Monday afternoon and will continue Tuesday morning.
