On the eve of what's expected to be a more pessimistic budget forecast, some of the numbers don't look so bad for Kansas. Preliminary figures from the Department of Revenue show that in the bulk of its tax collections for October, the state met existing predictions.
The department says the state received nearly $445 million in October from the taxes that the agency collects. That's about $700,000 more than anticipated.
A new fiscal forecast is expected Tuesday.
