Developer Gene Jani has been given an extra week to find an attorney in his lawsuit against the city of Topeka. Jani filed the suit when the city council nixed his proposed development for S.W. 33rd and Fairlawn Rd. because residents protested.
Shawnee County Judge Larry Hendricks had given Jani until Friday, October 1 to find an attorney to represent him. Jani told the court an attorney is considering the case and asked for a two week continuance but Hendricks ordered Jani to pick his lawyer by November 7.
