TOPEKA, Kan. - Two sisters of a three-year old Topeka boy who was shot and killed, have been removed their home.
Shawnee County Judge Joseph Johnson granted temporary official custody of the two year old and six month old girls to the Kansas Department of Social Rehabilitation Services.
He made the decision at a hearing Wednesday.
Tre'vonte Christopher Williams Lucas was shot in the family's apartment on October 17. The family says it was an accident.
Topeka Police have investigated and turned over their findings to the District Attorney's Office. The DA would decide whether charges will be pressed.
The girls had already been removed from the home as part of an emergency order to the court from the Shawnee County District Attorney's Office.
