ELLSWORTH, Kan. (AP) _ A 30-year-old man is sentenced to life in prison for killing a rural Kansas man during a home robbery.
Brian Orr of McPherson had pleaded guilty in September to first-degree murder in the July 28 slaying of 72-year-old Richard Kroll at the victim's home near Ellsworth.
Ellsworth County District Judge Mike Keeley on Monday handed Orr a life prison sentence with no eligibility for parole for the first 20 years. Orr said he had no statement to make and showed little emotion during the proceeding.
Orr was captured an hour and a half later after a chase through rural Ellsworth and Lincoln counties.
