Drive-by Shootings Kill 2, Injure 2 in Newark, NJ

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) _ Authorities in Newark, New Jersey, say five
drive-by shootings in quick succession have left two dead and two
others wounded.
The suspects in a white Infiniti SUV got away from police who
gave chase.
Two other people were shot and wounded in separate incidents
later today, but police don't think those incidents are related to
the drive-bys.
In the words of one former city councilman, ``The streets are
out of control.''
Mayor Cory Booker said at a news conference: ``This is not
Newark ... We are a city of peace and a city of strength.''
