ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) _ The Coast Guard says four crew members
of a fishing boat have been rescued from a life raft in frigid,
stormy seas in a remote Alaskan island chain.
They were pulled to safety hours after their 93-foot vessel
reported it was in distress. Three crew members died, and four are
The water was 43 degrees when rescuers hauled the survivors out
of the raft. They were wearing survival suits.
No oil sheen typically seen from sunken vessels had been
spotted, so the Coast Guard was not prepared to say with certainty
that the vessel had sunk.
