Volunteers Honored at RSVP Breakfast

Retired volunteers were honored Wednesday for their time and service to the United Way.

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program, or RSVP, breakfast was held at Gage Park. The theme was "Hats Off to Volunteers."

A check was presented, representing the volunteer time they have given to the city. This year's final amount was more than $830,000.

RSVP allow people 55 and older to help out in the community.

Merton Wilch has been driving Meals on Wheels routes since 1994. He hopes to hit a thousand miles driven on routes for the organization. It will take about another year, he says.
