BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) _ A lawmaker says the U.S. Air Force plans
to add 200 more civilian jobs at Scott Air Force Base in southern
U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello of Belleville told the Belleville
News-Democrat on Tuesday that the new jobs would come in 2010, when
a new contracting office opens at the base.
Costello says it'll be one of five new regional offices and will
require a new building at the base.
He says Scott Air Force Base would be responsible for contracts
in Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota,
Oklahoma and South Dakota.
Costello says the new office should be fully functional by 2012.
