The driver of a semi truck crossed the median and collided with another tractor trailer about 1:00 a.m. Monday morning.
Both vehicles caught fire and both drivers were killed at the scene.
One truck was carrying air conditioning parts and the other was transporting pig fat from a rendering plant.
The greasy content got onto the roadway and caused the fire to grow even larger.
The fire was so hot, the asphalt on the road burned.
The road will remained closed Monday evening, no word on when it will reopen.
