PORTAGE, Ind. – Indiana State Police say a man suspected in a fatal stabbing died with his 2-year-old son when he deliberately crashed his car into a police car.
Officers say the boy was on his father's lap when the man drove into the squad car.
Police say the man went to the home of the boy's mother's early Tuesday in the northwest Indiana town of Portage and found her with another man. Investigators say he held a knife to the woman's throat and the other man was stabbed when he tried to intervene.
Investigators say that about a half-hour later the man's car crashed head-on into a parked police car along a highway several miles away.
The man was dead at the scene and the boy was pronounced dead at a hospital. Police have not released any of the victims' names.
