Modernizing the old Menninger Foundation property may be on the agenda for the Topeka City Council in November. Planning Commission members voted unanimously Monday night to approve the demolition of the Stauffer, Boam and Power House buildings on the Menninger hill. It's all part of the grand design of the new River Hill medical and legal office campus. Their vote includes approval to add a planned 20,000 square foot "footprint" of a building which will be zoned for Office and Institutional District use there.
Topeka City Council membes may take up the River Hill campus plans in November. The zoning requests are being made by Sister of Charity Leavenworth Health System, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and three development groups.
Last night's meeting included another unanimous vote for changing the zoning of the planned Wanamaker Northwest Development at 6209, 6211 and 6213 SW 10th Avenue. It will be up to the Council to change that zoning from single family dwelling and commercial to a complete Planned Unit Development zoning designation.
