WASHINGTON (AP) _ Republican Sen. Pat Roberts has widened his financial lead over Democratic challenger Jim Slattery in the Kansas Senate campaign.

Campaign finance reports show Roberts with a better than 12-to-1 advantage in cash on hand over Slattery, a former congressman from Topeka.

Slattery raised about $532,000 from July 17 to Sept. 30 and had $145,000 cash on hand at the end of the period.

Roberts raised nearly $954,000 over the same period and finished with $1.8 million on hand.

In all, Roberts has raised more than $5.2 million so far in his campaign for a third term. Slattery has raised nearly $1.4 million since entering the race earlier this year.
