Topeka, KS (WIBW)-- Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday Topeka Police arrived on the scene of a two car accident at the intersection of Huntoon and Gage.
The driver of a silver 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling north on Gage when it struck a grey 2002 Chrystler Sebring 4-door that was south on Gage turning left on Huntoon to go east.
Police report that the 22-year-old driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses say that the driver of the Jeep, a 22-year-old Topeka man failed to stop at the red light and collided with the Chrysler at the intersection.
After striking the Chrysler the jeep struck the curb and a retaining wall before rolling onto its top. The driver was partially ejected from the Jeep. It appears the driver of the Jeep didn't have his seat belt on.
Two others in the Jeep suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Chrysler and passenger also suffered minor injuries.
The Topeka Police Department's Accident Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate and is looking at whether alcohol and speed may have been factors in the crash.
Anyone who may has seen the accident or who has information is asked to call the Accident Reconstruction team at 368-9227 or Sgt. Ash Kaboudan at 368-9213.
