13 news won four first place awards at the Kansas Association of Broadcasters annual meeting in Wichita Tuesday. Our morning and noon team of Dave Johnson and Lindsay Shively won a first for Midday in Kansas.

Lindsay and Dave, along with Candice Sorensen, and now Drew Switzer, produce two hours of news on WIBW TV and another hour on Channel 99 on My TV. Our sports team of J.B. Bauersfeld and Mark Ewing won two first place awards. One of the awards was for their sportscast on Spring Sports Championship Sunday. The other award was for our hour long special report on April 7, the night before Kansas won the national championship game against Memphis at San Antonio’s Alamo Dome.

Our news team won a first place for our coverage of the June 7, 2007 hail storm and its aftermath. We appreciate the awards but are especially pleased that our viewers look to the 13 news, weather and sports teams for coverage of northeast Kansas.
