Fundraiser Saturday for Topeka Girl Diagnosed with Rare Disease

By  |

Anna Rose is a picture perfect little girl with a promising future. She loves to have fun and is in the first grade at Indian Creek Elementary School. About a month ago Anna hit a bump in the road. She was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

Her life changed overnight. Instead of getting up to go to school Anna is getting up to go through chemotherapy. She will begin radiation next week. Although her young life has been turned upside down, Anna does have something to smile about.

Her grandfather is a captain at the Soldier Township Fire Department. The fire department is a self-described extended family and when they learned about Anna's situation they decided to help. That is when they came up with the idea for a Chili feed. The funds will help Anna's family pay for her tests and treatment.

The Chili feed was on Saturday from 4:00-7:00 at Indian Creek Elementary School. If you could not attend but would like to help Anna's family out please call the Fire Department at the number below.
