Topeka Fire Department and West Ridge Mall to Host Fire Prevention Day

TOPEKA, Kan. - The Topeka Fire Department and West Ridge Mall will partner to host Fire Prevention Day 2008 at the mall, on Saturday, October 11, 2008 – from noon until 4:00pm. The celebration will culminate Fire Prevention Week 2008.

This event will afford our community an opportunity to see their Topeka Fire Department up close and personal, during a non-emergency situation. Among the planned displays and activities for the day are:
• Fire extinguisher demonstrations
• Fire Safety house – tour and practice a fire escape plan
• Antique fire apparatus, including the Tiller – which has two steering wheels; one on the front of the apparatus and another on the rear; an antique Steamer and a Model – A apparatus.
• Technical Rescue Truck and Trailer
• Engine Company
• Truck Company
• Displays – smoke alarm and novelty lighters
• Fire Inspectors and other fire department personnel on hand to answer questions
• Fire safety information – fire facts; pamphlets; badge stickers

And more…and the public is invited to attend to help celebrate.
