Melgren to Assume Role as Federal Judge Thursday

U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren steps down from his prosecutor's role Thursday when he takes the oath to become the state's newest Federal District Judge.

Melgren served as U.S. Attorney for nearly seven years. He is replacing U.S. District Judge Monti Belot. Veteran Federal Prosecutor Marietta Parker is taking over as acting U.S. Attorney in Kansas. She will run the offices in Wichita, Topeka and Kansas City, where she is based. Parker has been a federal prosecutor for 18 years.
