Several Junior ROTC cadets helped clean a historic cemetery in Topeka Thursday.

The cadets from local high schools worked at the Curtis Family Cemetery after school.

USD 501 superintendent Dr. Kevin Singer noticed it had become overgrown when he was riding his bike by the cemetery. He asked the ROTC to help clean it.

The cemetery is the family plot for Charles Curtis, who served as the vice president under President Herbert Hoover. Curtis himself is buried at Topeka Cemetery.
